This tournament has some relatively new events/concepts, like the Family Doubles, the Senior-Junior Family Doubles and Mixed Gender events:
·The prime objective of the Mixed Gender format is to optimise the playing pool/experience of entrants. The objective is not to determine a Mixed Gender champion, but to arrive at a Men’s Champion and a Women’s Champion respectively (whilst ensuring a better playing experience for all). However, once a particular gender’s champion is determined that gender champion must continue in the play-offs in order to uphold the objective of ensuring a better playing experience for all.
Determining the Champions in a Mixed Gender events
·Playoffs for each gender will be held to determine the gender Champions and runners-up.* These playoffs will be between those who progress furthest in the Single Elimination rounds. This process might involve more than 2 players.
·If there are only 2 entrants from a particular gender, a gender champ for that particular gender will be determined, but there will be no recognised runner up.
·If there is only 1 entrant of a particular gender and that player:
oDoes not win the event; there is no champ for that gender in the event.
oWins the event; they become the Combined Gender Champ, and there will be no gender champ for their gender. The other gender will still play-off.
*Note: If 2 players of the same gender have already played against each other in a particular Mixed event, that result will count in lieu of a rematch (in other words, no 2 players will play each other twice in the same event).
